Railroad and Village

Conway Scenic Railroad and village

Trains leave the 1874 station beside Schouler Park. Choose the one-hour Valley Train for an easy village day or the longer Mountaineer for Crawford Notch scenery.

Choose the excursion

The Valley Train leaves time for town; the Mountaineer fills most of a day

Conway Scenic Railroad departures start at the 1874 North Conway station. Schouler Park and Main Street are nearby, so the shorter excursion can sit between coffee, lunch, and a village walk without another long drive.

The Valley Train is the shorter family choice — about an hour and roughly 11 miles round trip through the valley. The Mountaineer is the scenery-first choice, typically a 4- to 4.5-hour round trip through the Mount Washington Valley and Crawford Notch, with Saco River views, viaducts, and rocky notch scenery throughout the ride.

Station to Main Street

The depot, park lawn, and village blocks form one walk

The 1874 station faces the broad lawn of Schouler Park, with Main Street shops and restaurants on the surrounding village blocks. An early arrival leaves time to see the platform and depot exterior, cross the park, and return to the boarding area without moving the car.

After the Valley Train, lunch and the village still fit the same outing. The Mountaineer returns after four or more hours, leaving time for dinner near the station rather than a second ticketed attraction or a long outlet circuit. Published departure and return times determine whether lunch or dinner fits before or after the ride.
